Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 23, 2026

This policy covers dionlinton.com, my emails and the digital products I sell. "I", "me" and "my" means Dion Linton, an individual based in Ontario, Canada. I run this business myself. I follow Canada's federal privacy law (PIPEDA) and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

Short version: I collect only what I need to send you what you asked for and to sell you my products. I don't sell your information. You can unsubscribe at any time.

1. What I collect

When you sign up for the free Score Your Life scorecard:

  • your email address (required);
  • your first name, if you choose to give it;
  • your consent: the checkbox you ticked, the exact wording you agreed to (version casl-v1-2026-10-23), the date and time, and the page you signed up on;
  • campaign tags in the link you came from (for example, utm_source), if there are any;
  • your browser type (the "user agent" text your browser sends, cut to 256 characters);
  • a scrambled, one-way code (a "hash") made from your IP address and, in my spam log, from your email address. I use these only to stop spam and limit repeat sign-ups. I don't store your raw IP address.

Your 8 life-area scores and your lowest area are worked out in your own browser. The form does not send them to me. If I ever start collecting them, I'll update this policy first.

When you buy something: Payhip runs my checkout. It collects your name, email, billing details, country or location, IP address and what you bought. I receive your email, order details, amounts, taxes and refund status. I never see your full card number. Stripe or PayPal handles the payment.

When you email me: your email address and whatever you send, including any proof you attach for a guarantee request.

When you open my emails: MailerLite records whether you opened an email and which links you clicked. I may copy those records into my database.

2. How I use it

  • To send you the free scorecard and the emails you agreed to: tips, ideas for your lowest area, and offers for my paid products.
  • To stop sales emails for a product once you've bought it.
  • To deliver your purchases, handle support and process refund and guarantee requests.
  • To keep tax and business records.
  • To prevent spam, fraud and abuse.
  • To see which emails and pages work, so I can improve them.
  • To meet my legal obligations.

I don't sell, rent or trade your personal information. I don't use it for anything you wouldn't reasonably expect from the list above.

3. Consent and email (CASL)

I only send marketing emails to people who gave express consent by ticking the box on my sign-up form. You'll also get a confirmation email asking you to confirm your address (double opt-in).

If you buy from me without signing up, I'll send you order emails, such as your receipt and download link. Those are transactional emails, not marketing.

Every email I send identifies me as the sender (Dion Linton), gives my mailing address, 1755 Pickering Parkway, Box #___, Pickering, Ontario L1V 6K5, and my contact email, [email protected], and has a working unsubscribe link.

Withdrawing consent: click "unsubscribe" in any email, or email [email protected]. I'll process it right away, and always within 10 business days, as CASL requires. Unsubscribing stops marketing emails. It doesn't cancel a purchase or stop order emails you still need.

4. Who helps me run this (service providers)

These companies handle data for me to provide their service. They are not allowed to use it for their own marketing.

ServiceWhat it doesWhat it receivesWhere data is stored
MailerLiteSends my emailsEmail, first name, consent details, opens and clicksIts servers are in the European Union (the Netherlands). For customers in Canada, MailerLite's US company provides the service, so data may also be handled in the United States.
PayhipRuns checkout, delivers downloads and collects sales taxOrder and billing detailsOutside Canada. Payment goes through Stripe or PayPal, which also process data outside Canada.
SupabaseStores my sign-up and order recordsThe sign-up details in section 1, plus order and email recordsCanada (AWS Canada Central region). Sign-up requests may pass briefly through Supabase servers closer to you before being stored.
Cloudflare (Cloudflare Pages)Hosts and protects the websiteYour IP address and technical request details in its server logsWorldwide network, with some data handled in the United States
PorkbunDomain registrar for dionlinton.comNothing about you. Porkbun only registers the name. It doesn't host the site or receive visitor data.Not applicable

Each company has its own privacy policy, which applies to what it does.

I may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect my rights or someone's safety. If I ever sell or transfer the business, your information would go to the new owner under this policy.

5. Data stored outside Canada

Some of your information is stored or processed outside Canada, mainly in the European Union and the United States. While it's there, the laws of that country apply, and courts, police or government agencies there may be able to access it. I choose providers that protect data with contracts and security measures.

6. Cookies and analytics

  • My site: right now, dionlinton.com uses no analytics and no tracking or advertising cookies. I'll update this policy before I add any analytics.
  • Cloudflare: Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies (for example, __cf_bm or cf_clearance) to block bots and attacks. They don't track you across sites.
  • Payhip: when you click a buy button, you go to Payhip's checkout, which sets its own cookies under its own policy.
  • MailerLite: my emails use tracking pixels and tracked links to record opens and clicks. You can limit this by blocking images in your email app.

7. How long I keep it

  • Sign-up and email data: for as long as you stay subscribed. After you unsubscribe, I delete or anonymize your details within a reasonable time. I keep a short record (your email, your consent and when you unsubscribed) for up to 3 years so I can prove I followed the law and make sure I never email you again.
  • Purchase records: 7 years, because the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) requires business records to be kept for six years from the end of the tax year they relate to.
  • Spam-protection log (hashed codes only): up to 12 months.
  • Support and guarantee emails: as long as needed to handle your request, then for as long as I keep the related purchase record.

8. How I protect it

My database is private and locked down. Only I can reach the records, and my public sign-up form can add a sign-up but can't read anything. IP addresses are scrambled before storage. Passwords and keys are not shared. No system is perfect, but I take reasonable steps for the kind of information I hold.

If something goes wrong: if a breach of your personal information creates a real risk of significant harm, I'll notify you and report it to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, as PIPEDA requires. I'll also keep a record of any breach.

9. Your rights

You can ask me to:

  • tell you what personal information I have about you and how I've used it;
  • correct anything that's wrong;
  • delete your information, unless I have to keep it by law, for example tax records;
  • stop marketing emails (see section 3).

Email [email protected]. I may need to confirm it's you. I'll reply within 30 days. It's free.

10. Children

This site and my products are for adults. They're not meant for anyone under 18, which is the age of majority in Ontario. Don't sign up or buy if you're under 18. If I learn I've collected a minor's information, I'll delete it.

11. Changes

If I change this policy, I'll post the new version here with a new effective date. If the change is significant, for example if I add analytics or start using your information in a new way, I'll tell you by email before it applies.

12. Questions and complaints

Contact me first: Dion Linton, [email protected], 1755 Pickering Parkway, Box #___, Pickering, Ontario L1V 6K5. I'm responsible for your personal information and I'll do my best to fix any problem.

If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada: priv.gc.ca, or 1-800-282-1376.
